Rivers in the Desert

Rivers in the Desert

Recently it has been such a changing time for everyone. Some have endured tradegy, others worry and fear and some trying to keep the norm. For all, it is difficult and trying times. John and I are trying to follow the guidelines and spending much time at home in prayer for those sick and those on the front lines.

Everyday I always check my Bible app the first thing each morning. It is like my word from God that day. However, since the start of this virus the verse never changes. It is the same everyday. This is the verse, “Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth, shall ye not know it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19. It never fails to cause a leap of joy every morning I read it. God is working and for the good of them that love him. The verse goes on to tell us that He remembers our sin no more. What a message of grace found in the old testament. God made a plan for all through His Son, Jesus.

I believe we are in a time of change, an amazing change. Throughout history each generation has experienced things that brought change. I am working on my family history during this stay home period. My grandmother had prepared a book with stories about her childhood. One of the questions she had responded to was what events did she remember the most? She named many from Pretty Boy Floyd to the flight of Amelia Earhart. But the thing she mention most and one that affected her most was the “fever” (Spanish flu), in early 1900s, that took her brother and his wife. This fever struck the whole country. For many this will be their story today with the coronavirus. They too will have a story to tell of loved ones they lost during this tragic season. But then you continue reading about all the inventions and events Grandmother experienced and saw in her life time, things which were bigger than her mind could have comprehended at that time. She lived from the 1800s and if she had lived 2 more months she would have lived into 2000. That is a lot of change.

In the last few decades our nation has exploded with new inventions and events. But there is more to come. Our mind cannot comprehend what God has in store for us ahead. WOW! We as Christian’s and yes a Christian nation founded solely on Biblical law and principals have so much to look ahead for. Whether here or our heavenly home, it will be greater than we can comprehend or even imagine now.

One of the changes I have made in my life recently is to thank God for things I cannot see, but know He is taking care of. It is amazing the difference it has made in my life. My prayer is for all the people of this great nation to rise up and give God praise and thanks for all that He has done, is doing and will do. “It is a new thing that shall spring forth!!”
